Stories, data, and life in rural places

Hi, I’m Jake. I explore rural life, small-scale agriculture, and land-based work through writing, mapping, and reflection.

From old tools and local stories to data-driven maps and questions of place and identity, this is a space for looking closely and thinking deeply about where we are and how we live.

A Few Words About Me

Growing up in 4-H and surrounded by farm fields, agriculture has been a part of my story for as long as I can remember. Nearly a decade working in GIS deepened my understanding of the intricate connections between land and systems.

Rural places hold more than open landscapes. They’re layers of stories, history, and memory. Here, I explore those connections through maps, writing, and reflections on what it means to belong to a place.
